Unfortunately, PSP7 is no longer supported by technical support, so I'll either have to work around it or buy a newer version. At last I could see my files, but I didn't have any trouble writing files until lately, so I'm still mystified. I finally resolved the problem (after trying a reinstall of PSP7, didn't help) by making my directory shared on the network. My earlier problem was with not being able to see any of my directories, just the shared directory (for our home network).
Evidently, Paint Shop Pro 7 doesn't work with the XP user account stuff very well. Although I swear that it wasn't doing this before, but it appears that when I am logged in as myself, it doesn't let me write files, but when I'm logged in as my husband (it used to be his computer so his user account was the first), then it works. Okay, after fiddling around with it some more, it seems that what I thought I had fixed about Paint Shop Pro is still a problem. I've been using it for 3 months before this and it was never a problem. Okay, so it sounds like the Read-only thing in Properties is normal? So that doesn't explain why Paint Shop Pro started acting this way.
